Aruspex Secures $4 Million in Series A Funding with Starfish Ventures

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, MAY 9 2008: Aruspex, an Australian born global provider of strategic workforce solutions, today announced that it has raised A$4million (US$3.8million) in its first investment round by leading Australian venture capital firm, Starfish Ventures. The company will use the capital to fund their ongoing global growth, particularly in the US.

“The US is a great market for us, and accepting venture backing means we are really well placed to accelerate our growth, and of course to build on successes we have with early customers like Starbucks and Aetna” said Stacy Chapman, co-founder of Aruspex.

Aruspex was founded in 2002 after a beer mat discussion between Chapman and co-founder Tess Walton. Based on their extensive experience in the HR sector, they wanted to provide a product that delivers strategic workforce planning solutions to help organizations design and attain their future workforce. Aruspex’s planning software, CAPTure, gives HR professionals an intuitive program to go beyond simple reporting in order to identify future workforce gaps and solve a variety of workforce scenarios.

Since its inception in 2002, Aruspex has been self-funded and profitable to date – a business model which helped secure the investment. Founded in Melbourne, the fast growing company now has presence in the US and Europe and is developing a Fortune 500 customer base with their innovative approach to workforce planning.

“The technology developed by Aruspex to help companies deliver strategic workforce planning is arguably the clearest and most accurate in the industry and will help companies maximize the value they get from their workforce,” said John Dyson, Investment Principal at Starfish Ventures. “Starfish is delighted to support this strong entrepreneurial team as it works to become a global leader in workforce solutions.”

“Of course, the capital investment is just the beginning,” said Chapman. “The experience and expertise provided by Starfish Ventures adds years of experience and savvy to our team, and gives us the ability to scale quickly to meet our growing demand. Our investors have a strong track record of helping Australian companies succeed on the world stage. Workforce Planning is really taking off as a discipline, and this helps us help many more leading companies plan for their futures.”
