Fujitsu Services and Distra have entered into a market development arrangement to promote the adoption of next generation EFT payments solution by the Spanish Financial Services market and also across the European region.
Fujitsu Services, a leader in the Spanish market for multichannel banking solutions and services has chosen Distra’s technology as the key differentiator for its new EFT payment offering. Fujitsu’s new EFT payment solution will target the business, regulatory and technological challenges major banks and payments processors need to address today for their future card payment businesses.
With over 20 years in the local payments business, Fujitsu has positioned itself as a key partner for banks. One out of every four ATMs in Spain operate with Fujitsu’s multichannel application. Fujitsu has implemented up to two hundred different types of customer operations in selfservice devices, connecting with third party services like (entertainment, real state, tax agencies, city halls, government bodies, etc).
The card payment business in Spain, representing 15% of all payment transactions made in the market is expected to rapidly grow in the following years, moving closer to the European region averages of 30%. Nonetheless, the underlying volume of card payments transactions in Spain grows at a 10% CAGR. Card payments are reckoned by most financial services as the most efficient payment method in the market.
Several factors led to the creation of this market development arrangement including the high density of ATM and POS devices in the Spanish geography; growing demand for highly advanced services and operations running in the banking selfservice channels; the high growth expectations in card payments; and the need to set up efficient and agile IT solutions to support customer’s changing business and operations requirements.
Fujitsu Services and Distra are further committed to establishing a localised Centre of Excellence for the provision of on-going support and product enhancement. This will provide customers with a highly responsive and guaranteed software maintenance service and a high degree of independence in its long term use and deployment of the switching platform.
